Paint protection film is a thermoplastic urethane, more simply put as a self-healing film which is applied to the beautifully painted surfaces of all vehicle types in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, and minor abrasions.

A Paint Protection Film (PPF) Pre-cut is the film that is already cut and curated to fit your vehicle of choice. This is often times a more sought after route to take, since a blade will never come into contact with your vehicle.
Sometimes, Detailing shops like to do a “bulk” installation, in which every angle, edge and curvature is hand cut by a 8mm thick blade. (Or blades similar in size).
While hand cutting the film is of course possible, (we’ve done it), the thickness of the paint protection film can be too thick to cut through, resulting in an abrasion of your paint if additional pressure by your installer is applied.
It takes a very patient and steady hand.
